Volunteer Opp-Holland Rescue Mission Run-Oct. 13, 2007

This event benefits the Holland Rescue Mission which seeks to relieve, rebuild and restore the homeless. Volunteers are needed to be course marshals, work water stations, serve refreshments and maintain the finish line (see descriptions below). All volunteers will need to report at 7 AM and stay until the event concludes. For your time and hard work, each volunteer will receive a free volunteer t-shirt! Job Descriptions:

Course Marshall
• 5-6 volunteers
• Spaced throughout race course as easily identifiable “points” for reference
• Make sure people are following set course
• Help runners or walkers in need
• Must be able and willing to stand for several hours in any kind of weather

Water Station
• 3-6 volunteers
• Work mid-course water station
• Fill cups ½ full, hand water to runners, clean up trash, etc.
• Must be able and willing to stand for several hours in any kind of weather

Finish Line
• 6-7 people
• Greet runners after crossing the finish line
• Keep them in order according to finish time
• Tear off runner numbers in order of finish
• Get accurate information to race official
• Collect chips from all runners
• Must be quick-thinking, detail-oriented, with problem-solving skills
• Must be able and willing to stand for several hours in any kind of weather

Refreshments
• 2-4 people
• Set up, maintain, and clean up refreshment areas for volunteers and racers
• Before and after the race
