December Membership Spotlight

adris-pic.JPG

Name: Adrienne Schumacher

Age: 31

Company: The City of Holland Department of Leisure & Cultural Services

Occupation: Recreation & Special Events Coordinator

How long have you lived/worked in Holland? I’ve lived in Holland for 8 years, worked for the City of Holland for 3 of those.

What besides being HYP do you like to do (Hobbies)? Run with my dogs, read with the Divas, coach volleyball at Holland High, digital photography, play volleyball, watch college football and basketball with my hubby (Steve), cook for friends, volunteer for non-profits, and most would say attending college is a hobby for me, I’m working on my second Masters degree. Geez, no wonder I’m always tired!!

What do you like best about HYP, or if you’re a new member, what drew you to HYP? I’m definitely not a new member, I’m like the “mother hen” of HYP. I enjoy being able to plan and attend fun events where I can meet new people and help them make their own way in our community. When I first moved here from the East side of Michigan, I felt very awkward and not included; Holland is a tough community to break into! I try to make other YP transitions to this area a little smoother than my own. If they are from here, I love to introduce them to things they didn’t know existed. I want YPs to feel connected to the community so they contribute and represent our generation more on boards and by way of volunteering. There are a lot of opportunities out there if you know where to look and have a little ambition; you’re never too busy to get a little dirty for a non-profit.

Our VP, Mr. Hill, is a funny guy; he’d like you to tell us a joke. He’s always looking to add to his own collection.

I’ve got two for you Mike:

Q: How do you get a redhead to argue with you?
A: Say something

Q: How do you know when a redhead has been using a computer?
A: There’s a hammer embedded in the monitor

A Tradition of Excellence Since the turn of the twentieth century, the Padnos name has become synonymous with dedication, hard work, and fair dealing.
