“THE CARVE” - Fruit and Vegetable Carving Contest
Remember when you were little and would sculpt a volcano out of mashed potatoes and gravy at the dinner table? Or when you’d try to form the Great Pyramid out of a plate full of peas? Do still do this when no one is watching? Then this event is for you!
On Saturday, July 19th, the Holland Farmers Market and Alpenrose Restaurant will be holding “The Carve,” the first-ever fruit and vegetable carving contest at the Market. The contest is open to anyone who wants to show off their creative talent and imaginative flair by carving sculptures out of fresh produce from the Market. Cash prizes will be awarded, including a $150.00 prize for the first place winner in both the Professional and Amateur categories.
The event kicks off at 10 a.m. on July 19. Contestants will have one and a half to two hours to choose their produce from a selection from the Market and carve one sculpture to enter for judging. If you are interested in entering the competition, e-mail thecarve@hollandfarmersmarket.com for an entry form. The entry fee for the contest is just $15.00. Spectators are welcome to come watch the action too!

It is not too late to enter the The Carve if you are interested in participating! We are expecting a huge crowd for the event and it should be a lot fun! (And a great marketing opportunity for your business as well.) If you are interested in taking part, please e-mail me at barney@cityofholland.com for an entry form.
