The March for Babies seeking VOLUNTEERS, NEW TEAMS, WALKERS

The March for Babies event will be held on April 19, 2008 at Kollen Park with registration starting at 8:00 am.  A kickoff meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 27th, at the Macatawa Legends Golf & Country Club from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm.

The money raised goes to save premature and sick babies.  Premature birth is the #1 cause of newborn death and the biggest threat to babies’ health today, and through March for Babies, the March of Dimes is funding important research to find out why premature birth happens and what can be done to prevent it.

Why walk?

  • Right now, premature birth touches half a million babies and their families every year.
  • Because babies born too soon are more likely to die, or have lifelong disabilities.
  • Because 120,000 babies are born with serious defects every year.
  • And because every baby deserves someone in their corner.

Holland Junior Welfare League is a non-profit charitable 501c organization committed to promoting volunteerism and enriching the lives of the children in the greater Holland area. Local non-profits that support children may apply to receive our funding by completing our application and interview process. The members of our organization carefully consider each request. We consider not only economic need, but also the educational value of each request. HJWL distributes funds only to organizations that guarantee all proceeds will be used to help children in our community. Proceeds from this event will go directly to fund these requests.

Want to volunteer? HJWL is seeking volunteers to work at “BitterSweet” from 7:00 pm to 10:15 pm ish. Volunteers are needed for the following areas: 1) Beverage Servers, 3-4 volunteers needed.
