What besides being HYP do you like to do (hobbies)?
I start grad school this fall, the beach, sailing, interior design, my puppy (Ellie), and hanging out with my husband Nate, family, and friends
What do you like best about HYP, or if you’re a new member, what drew you to HYP?
I like that everyone is so welcoming and that not everyone is a suit and tie professional. I also like the events and now being active on the membership committee.
Our President, Mr. Hill, is a funny guy; he’s like you to tell us a joke. He is always looking to add to his own collection.
Being blonde, I felt a blonde joke would be appropriate…
There was a blonde driving down the road one day. She glanced to her right and noticed another blonde sitting in a nearby field, rowing a boat with no water in sight.
The blonde angrily pulled her car over and yelled at the rowing blonde, “What do you think you’re doing? It’s things like this that give us blondes a bad name. If I could swim, I’d come out there and kick your butt!”

What besides being HYP do you like to do (Hobbies)?
Running, Swimming, Biking, Volleyball, & Tennis
What do you like best about HYP, or if you’re a new member, what drew you to HYP?
The fact that we’re all at similar places in our lives and can really relate to one another. It also refutes the stereotype that it is hard to get to know people in Holland if you didn’t grow up here.
Our VP, Mr. Hill, is a funny guy; he’d like you to tell us a joke. He’s always looking to add to his own collection.

The Lone Ranger and Tonto were camping out one night. Tonto, after having a very bad dream, woke up to see the stars up above him. He woke the Lone Ranger and said to him, “What you think?”
The Lone Ranger replies reassuringly, “Well, Tonto, it’s like this, God gives us miracles in life. Each day is a new beginning, just like every night there’s a new star in the sky. What do you think?”
Tonto looks at him, confused and says, “Tonto think someone stole tent.”

How long have you lived/worked in Holland?
I have lived in the Holland for all 24 years, so I guess you can call me a lifer.
What besides being HYP do you like to do (Hobbies)?
I really enjoy going to Tiger Baseball games and traveling. I like to experience new people and places. I also like to play softball, football and Basketball.
I love the HYP summer sports. It gives you an opportunity to meet new people and have a great time. Also there is nothing like a little friendly competition to bring people together, especially since we get a good mix of guys and girls and not all of us are serious athletes, so things are always interesting.

One day a blonde finds out from a friend that her boyfriend is cheating on her. The next day she goes out and buys a gun. Immediately after, she goes to her boyfriend’s house. She busts down the door and points the gun at her head. “What are you doing?” asks her boyfriend. She yelled back, “Shut up you’re Next.”

How long have you worked/lived in Holland?
I moved to Holland in October 2006. After having a week to find an apartment, I chose Ridgeland Heights on the east side of Holland. I was raised in Midland, Michigan and never really heard of Holland until I was in college at Central Michigan University. I met some people there from Zeeland and they invited me to visit for Tulip Time. I have been down with the Dutch ever since - this will be fourth festival in a row.
Hobbies:
I love hiking in the area at all the lakefront parks. My favorite is probably Laketown Township beach. I am a huge fan of basketball, baseball, golf and football. Since coming here, I have also picked up tennis and disc golf. I volunteer with a number of activities at my church. Other interests include indie-rock concerts, events with free food, thrift-store shopping and traveling across the state.
What do you like best about HYP, or if you’re a new member, what drew you to HYP?
I enjoy the chance to network with people in all different professions. I also like learning more about different businesses and organizations in West Michigan. Let’s be real, HYP members are kind of a big deal.
Jokes:
One of my favorites - I apologize to those in the legal profession - is: What do you call 20,000 lawyers at the bottom of the sea? A good start! Thanks. I will not be here all week, just tonight.

How long have you worked/lived in Holland?
I relocated to Holland in June 2007 when I moved into the Baker Lofts. I grew up in Hudsonville and have always loved coming to the lakeshore. When I was ready to leave my hometown, I knew I wanted to find a place in Holland. I work in Byron Center, which is a bit of a long drive, but I’m happy here in Holland and I could see myself staying here for a long time.
Hobbies:
I simply like to get outdoors. I sit in front of a computer all day at work, so I enjoy getting outside and being active. I run several times a week, go for an occasional hike, hit the beach just about every Sunday (when it’s warm!), mountain bike, kayak… When I can’t be outside, I enjoy watching college football and basketball, and European league soccer.
What do you like best about HYP, or if you’re a new member, what drew you to HYP?
I first got connected with HYP by participating in the summer sports activities… which are GREAT. (I didn’t know that twenty- and thirty-something’s played kickball). I’ve been to a couple Unwind events and look forward to the next one. Being new to Holland, HYP has been a great way to meet other young professionals and start building relationships. Getting involved with HYP has given me a sense of community, and I really appreciate the opportunity to be a part of such a talented group of people.
Jokes:
One of my Sunday-school kids told me a good one the other day… and so with apologies to any OSU fans… “Did you hear that coach Tressel is only going to dress half the players for the next big game? Why you ask? Well, the rest of the players have to learn to dress themselves.”
